"Shaitaan" revolves around a seemingly happy family whose lives take a dark turn when they encounter a mysterious stranger. Kabir (Ajay Devgn), his wife Jyoti (Jyotika), and their children Jahnavi (Janki Bodiwala) and Dhruv (Anngad Raaj) find themselves at the mercy of Vanraj Kashyap (R Madhavan). Vanraj gains inexplicable control over Jahnavi, compelling her to carry out dangerous and bizarre tasks. As the family struggles to uncover the truth behind Vanraj's powers, they are plunged into a sinister game of survival.

Director Vikas Bahl succeeds in crafting a gripping supernatural thriller that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. Unlike typical horror films, "Shaitaan" relies on atmosphere and suspense rather than jump scares. The tension builds steadily as Vanraj's sinister intentions unfold, creating an unsettling atmosphere without relying on CGI effects.

Written by Aamir Keeyan Khan and Krishnadev Yagnik, the film explores themes of supernatural versus science and human malevolence. While the narrative maintains a good pace, the second half feels slightly monotonous, with some unconvincing elements and a predictable climax.

However, "Shaitaan" shines through its masterful performances and atmospheric cinematography by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti. R Madhavan delivers a chilling portrayal of the malevolent Vanraj, while Ajay Devgn and Jyotika excel in their roles as determined parents. Janki Bodiwala impresses with her nuanced performance as Jahnavi, capturing the character's vulnerability and strength.

Despite its narrative flaws, "Shaitaan" is an edge-of-the-seat thriller, that will leave viewers gripped until the very end.
