Global sensation AP Dhillon has once again sparked a conversation in the music industry after publicly revealing why he refuses to collaborate with Bollywood. Despite receiving offers from top producers, directors, and actors, the Brown Munde hitmaker has drawn a firm line against what he calls the exploitation of Punjabi artists by the Hindi film industry.

AP Dhillon On Why He Rejects Bollywood Offers

In a recent interview on the SMTV YouTube channel, AP Dhillon revealed that his decision was driven by principle, not preference. “It’s not about Bollywood, it’s about setting an example for my people,” he said. “When a Punjabi artist gives a song to a film, the producers take full ownership from the track to the remix rights. They exploit the song and the artist for their own profit. I put my foot down and said no.”

Dhillon added that even when major Bollywood actors approached him for collaborations, the deals came with unfair conditions. “They wanted to own everything: the song, the rights, the royalties. That’s not correct. Until they change how they do business, I can’t work with them,” he said firmly.

Standing Up For The Next Generation

The singer’s stand goes beyond personal boundaries. AP Dhillon emphasized that his refusal to compromise was meant to protect younger artists entering the industry. “If I agree to these deals, it forces the next generation to accept the same unfair system. I don’t want any young artist to lose their source of income by selling their hit song. I want them to have control over their art,” he stated.

Known for his global appeal and independent success, AP Dhillon’s voice carries weight in both the Punjabi and international music scenes. His stand reflects a growing sentiment among independent artists who demand ownership and transparency in the entertainment industry.

Calling For Fair Collaboration

Despite his criticism, AP Dhillon believes that Bollywood and Punjabi music can coexist but only if equality and mutual respect are prioritized. “Both industries must work hand in hand. I want to see producers and artists uplifting each other, not one side taking advantage of the other,” he concluded.

AP Dhillon’s words have resonated deeply across social media, earning him praise for taking a principled stand in an industry often criticized for overlooking artist rights. As one of the most influential Indian-origin musicians in the world, his message serves as a reminder that success without integrity means little.
