Every Bollywood fan knows and loves the characters Rats and Aditi from Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. But did you know that Genelia D’Souza was not the original choice for Aditi? In a recent interview, Imran Khan shared some surprising details about the casting of the film and how Genelia eventually became a part of the iconic duo.
The Original Script
Imran Khan told Ishq FM that he felt very lucky because the movie's script, written by Abbas Tyrewala, was followed exactly as it was written. Abbas made sure that everyone stuck to the script without any deviations.
Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Without Genelia?
Imran revealed that the famous song Kabhi Kabhi Aditi was almost recorded without Genelia. When he signed the film, Johnny Gaddar and Gulaal were already in production, and Jaane Tu was in pre-production. At that time, the cast was different, and Genelia was not part of the movie. Imran even started rehearsing with another actress.
Financial Challenges and Cast Changes
The film faced financial difficulties, which stalled production for almost nine months. During this time, the actors moved on to other projects, creating uncertainty about whether Jaane Tu would ever be made. Imran and Abbas Tyrewala worked hard to find producers, but most wanted a well-known actor to ensure the film's success. Abbas, however, was determined to launch new faces.
Aamir Khan’s Involvement
Abbas eventually reached out to Aamir Khan, Imran's uncle, for help. Imran was confused about why Aamir, known for his serious roles, would want to produce a romantic film. Aamir, driven by his heart rather than his intellect, decided to support the project. Imran took this lesson from his uncle, learning the importance of following one’s passion.
The Final Cast and Completion
With Aamir Khan's support, the film was finally completed within two years. Genelia D’Souza came on board, and the rest is history. The movie became a huge hit, and fans can't imagine it any other way.
