Pawan Kalyan has made a thunderous return to the box office with Hari Hara Veera Mallu, delivering the biggest opening of his career. The much-hyped period action drama opened in theatres on July 24 and immediately rewrote records. According to early estimates, the film grossed ₹31.1 crore net in India on release day and added another ₹12.7 crore from premiere shows, taking the total to a staggering ₹43.8 crore on day one.

This figure not only cements the film as one of the most successful openers of 2025 but also places it above Pawan Kalyan’s past blockbusters. His previous top openers included Vakeel Saab with ₹40.1 crore, Bheemla Nayak with ₹37.15 crore, and Bro with ₹30.5 crore. With Hari Hara Veera Mallu now setting the new benchmark, the film has redefined what a Pawan Kalyan launch looks like at the box office.

Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and A. M. Jyothi Krishna, the film is set in 1684 and narrates the fictionalised tale of a warrior who rises against the Mughal empire. The title character, played by Pawan Kalyan, is portrayed as the first Indian to orchestrate a full-scale revolt against the regime. The story blends historical fiction with intense action, spiritual themes, and grand visuals.

The Telugu-speaking belt contributed significantly to the film’s earnings, with the region reporting over 57 percent occupancy in theatres on Thursday. The combination of cultural pride, historical relevance, and Pawan Kalyan’s legendary screen presence seems to have struck a powerful chord with audiences. Early reviews suggest that while the action sequences and performances are major highlights, some viewers believe the screenplay and visual effects in the second half could have been tighter. Nonetheless, fan reactions and crowd excitement have far outweighed the few critical concerns.

Film analyst Sumit Kadel noted Pawan Kalyan’s performance as the soul of the movie, highlighting his dominance in every frame. He praised the action choreography and overall energy of the film, adding to the growing buzz around its sequel. As anticipation builds for Part 2 of this historical saga, the first chapter has already established itself as a monumental success.

The cast also includes Nidhhi Agerwal, Bobby Deol, Nargis Fakhri, Nora Fatehi, Sunil Varma, Jisshu Sengupta, and Sathyaraj. With a powerful lineup and a story that draws from history while entertaining the masses, Hari Hara Veera Mallu has everything it takes to dominate the coming weeks. The momentum from this record-breaking debut will likely carry it well into its second weekend and beyond.
