The rom com Param Sundari starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor is slowly finding its ground at the box office. After opening to a modest start on Friday, the film recorded an impressive jump in collections on its second day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film grossed Rs 16.25 crore on Day 2 after collecting Rs 9 crore on Saturday. This strong 25 percent surge has brought relief for the makers as the weekend trend signals steady audience interest.
Directed by Tushar Jalota, Param Sundari brings together a cultural clash narrative between Delhi’s Param and Kerala’s Sundari. The film has been praised widely for its music, with songs like Pardesiya receiving positive feedback. While comparisons with earlier hits like Chennai Express and 2 States have surfaced, audiences continue to appreciate the soundtrack and the refreshing chemistry between the leads.
In terms of occupancy, the film showed clear improvement from its opening day. Cities like Bengaluru and Chennai reported consistent crowds while Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Delhi NCR saw a stronger push on Saturday. Overall occupancy rates hovered around 18 percent, with late night shows drawing the most traction. Mumbai saw a slight increase while Surat remained the weakest market. With nearly 5000 shows running across India, the film has managed to create a presence despite facing competition from the Malayalam hit Lokah Chapter 1.
The film also benefits from a strong supporting cast including Sanjay Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Renji Panicker, Inayat Verma, and Siddhartha Shankar. Social media reactions, however, remain divided. While some viewers were charmed by the breezy storytelling and picturesque locations, others criticized the glossy visual style. One comment described the film as “bland beauty masquerading as gorgeous eye candy,” although positive reviews highlighted it as a “fun and feel good watch with no dull moments.”
Adding a personal touch, Sidharth Malhotra’s wife Kiara Advani shared her excitement on Instagram, calling Param Sundari “pure magic on screen.” The film’s emotional beats and vibrant setting are expected to keep the momentum going through Sunday as it heads into Day 3.
Param Sundari may not have set the box office on fire with record breaking numbers, but its growing collections and music driven appeal show that it is striking a chord with its audience. If the upward trend continues, the film could emerge as a steady performer in the coming weeks.
