Mumbai Police have filed an extensive 1,735-page chargesheet against nine individuals in connection with the April firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence in Bandra. The chargesheet, submitted to the special MCOC court, includes six arrested individuals and three wanted persons, one of whom is gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Chargesheet Details
The chargesheet, filed in a special MCOC court, encompasses various investigation documents divided into three volumes. It includes statements from 46 witnesses and witness statements recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC before the magistrate. Additionally, the document contains confessional statements under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOC), 22 panchanamas, and technical evidence. The court will review the chargesheet to determine the next steps in the legal proceedings. This development marks a crucial point in the investigation of the firing incident outside Salman Khan's residence.
The Firing Incident
On April 14, two motorcycle-borne men fired five rounds outside Khan's Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. This incident followed continuous threats to Salman Khan and his family over the past year, leading the actor to apply for a weapons license for their protection.
Salman Khan revealed to the police in June that he had received threats from the gang associated with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. These threats included a letter found near his residence in June 2022 and a direct threat issued by fugitive gangster Goldy Brar in 2023. The recent chargesheet discloses that Bishnoi had placed a bounty of Rs. 25 lakhs on Salman Khan.
Previous Threats and Investigation
The investigation uncovered that the Bishnoi gang had even hired minor boys for the planned assassination, aiming to execute the attack in a manner similar to the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala. These revelations highlight the grave danger posed to Salman Khan by these criminal elements.
