The much-anticipated Diwali release Thamma is already stealing the spotlight — not just for its unique blend of romance and horror, but also for the impressive paychecks its leading stars are taking home. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the film brings together a powerhouse cast led by Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Set for release on October 21, the film marks the fifth entry in Maddock Films’ Horror Comedy Universe, following hits like Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2. Unlike its predecessors, Thamma takes a more romantic approach, offering a “bloody love story” that blends charm, chaos, and supernatural suspense.

Big Paychecks for Big Stars

According to reports, Ayushmann Khurrana, who plays Alok Goyal in the film, has been paid between ₹8–10 crore for his role. Rashmika Mandanna, starring as Tadaka, is reportedly earning ₹5–7 crore. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who takes on the role of the vampire king Thamma, is charging around ₹3–4 crore.

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, playing Ayushmann’s father in the film, and Malaika Arora, who features in the special song Poison Baby, are both said to be taking home ₹2 crore each. The rest of the ensemble, including Faisal Malik, Rachit Singh, and Geeta Agarwal, round out the stellar lineup, though their pay details remain undisclosed.

About the Film

Thamma follows the story of Alok and Tadaka, star-crossed lovers who find themselves caught in a supernatural conflict as they attempt to defeat the vampire king Thamma. The film’s storyline connects back to Stree 2 through a post-credit scene, expanding Maddock’s growing horror-comedy universe.

While earlier films leaned heavily into scares, director Aditya Sarpotdar has described Thamma as “more fantastical than frightening,” focusing on humour and heart alongside the horror. The trailer teases quirky one-liners, eerie transformations, and undeniable chemistry between the leads, hinting at a perfect festive season entertainer.

The Expanding Maddock Horror Universe

With Thamma leading this year’s Diwali lineup, Maddock Films continues to expand its cinematic universe with upcoming titles like Shakti Shalini, Bhediya 2, Chammunda, Chhoti Stree, and Stree 3. Each film adds a new layer to India’s first interconnected horror-comedy franchise, building anticipation for how these stories might overlap.

As excitement builds ahead of Thamma’s release, the film promises to be a spectacle of laughter, love, and supernatural chaos, making it one of the most awaited festive releases of 2025.
