The much-awaited spy thriller War 2 has completed its first week at the Indian box office, closing in on the 200 crore mark. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the film had a powerful start but witnessed a dip in collections as the week progressed, particularly after clashing with Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Coolie.

War 2 First Week Numbers

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, War 2 earned Rs 5.5 crore on its seventh day, taking its total domestic earnings to Rs 199 crore. While this is an impressive figure, the slowdown in weekday collections signals a struggle to maintain momentum. The film now faces the crucial test of sustaining strong footfalls in the second weekend.

Regional Performance

The film performed better in southern regions, with Chennai leading at 20 percent occupancy boosted by evening shows. Bengaluru and Jaipur followed with around 15 percent. Kolkata also held steady with a 13 percent turnout. However, metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi hovered around single-digit occupancy, while smaller markets like Surat and Chandigarh struggled to attract crowds.

The Tamil version of the film reported nearly 17 percent occupancy, while the Telugu version managed 15 percent. These versions have played a key role in stabilizing War 2’s performance, balancing out the weaker Hindi collections.

Opening Strength and Midweek Dip

War 2 had a solid opening weekend driven by Hrithik Roshan’s star power and Jr NTR’s huge fan following. Audiences appreciated the sleek direction by Ayan Mukerji, the high-voltage action, and the film’s stylish presentation. However, the midweek dip shows that sustaining interest may be tougher than expected, especially with Coolie dominating the box office.

What Lies Ahead

As it stands, War 2 has earned Rs 199 crore domestically in its first seven days. The big question now is whether the film can cross the 250 crore mark in the coming weeks or if Coolie’s dominance will continue to overshadow it.
