War 2, the much awaited spy universe thriller starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, is holding its ground at the box office but has yet to touch the 200 crore milestone. Released on August 14, the Ayan Mukerji directorial has earned a total of 192.85 crore domestically after six days of release. While the film started strong over the extended weekend, the weekday numbers have slowed down, leaving trade experts cautious about its long term performance.

Collections So Far

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, War 2 collected 8.35 crore net on its sixth day in India, slightly lower than Monday’s 8.75 crore. Despite the dip, the overall trend shows that audiences are still interested, particularly in Hindi speaking regions. Delhi NCR has emerged as the top performing market with over 1,200 screenings, followed by Mumbai with more than 860 shows.

The regional versions have seen mixed results. The Tamil version recorded an occupancy of around 17.80 percent on Tuesday, with Chennai leading the pack. The Telugu version was slightly lower at 16.17 percent occupancy, with Hyderabad and Vizag driving the majority of the viewership.

Audience Reception

The film’s Hindi version has clearly been the strongest performer, recording an overall occupancy of more than 23 percent on Tuesday, with evening and night shows pulling in the maximum numbers. While fans have praised the action sequences and scale, the film has faced tough competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie which already crossed the 200 crore mark.

Film critic Taran Adarsh also highlighted concerns about the weekday slowdown, noting that War 2’s Monday crash showed signs of a weak trend despite the initial hype.

What Lies Ahead

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film also stars Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor, making it one of the biggest multi starrers in the spy universe franchise. While the film’s theatrical performance has not matched early expectations, trade experts believe that the upcoming weekend will be crucial for War 2 to push past the 200 crore milestone.

The big question now is whether War 2 can sustain momentum against strong competition and deliver on its massive hype. With metropolitan centres still showing healthy occupancy, the next few days will decide its ultimate standing at the box office.
