Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s much awaited War 2 has exploded at the box office, cementing its place as one of the biggest action spectacles of the year. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film opened on Independence Day weekend and in just three days it has already crossed the 200 crore mark worldwide.

Box Office Journey So Far

The film had a thunderous start on Day 1, collecting 52 crore on Thursday, boosted by the holiday excitement. On Day 2, Friday, it climbed even higher with 57.35 crore, thanks to the Independence Day wave. By Day 3, Saturday, collections slowed slightly with an estimated 33 crore across all languages. That brought the three day total in India to 142.35 crore net, and early trade estimates confirm that it comfortably crossed the 150 crore milestone in India alone.

Globally, War 2 touched 200 crore gross by Saturday. In two days the film had already raked in 168 crore worldwide and with Saturday’s numbers, it sailed past the double century mark.

Regional Performance

The Hindi version has dominated in most circuits, but the presence of Jr NTR gave the film a powerful edge in the Telugu states where it earned 35 crore in three days. Tamil Nadu also responded strongly, with Day 3 occupancy averaging 49 percent, higher than most Hindi belts. Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru drove much of the footfall in the South. In contrast, metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai saw a dip, with occupancy at around 31 percent on Saturday.

Competition with Coolie

War 2 has not had an easy path, with Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna’s mass entertainer Coolie smashing past 300 crore in the same three day window. Despite this, War 2 has managed to hold its ground and outshine many recent Bollywood releases, proving that the spy universe still has strong pull.

Star Power and Audience Reaction

The film stars Hrithik Roshan as Kabir and Jr NTR as the antagonist, a pairing that has thrilled fans across India. Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana, and Anil Kapoor add further strength to the cast. The action sequences, stunning visuals, and Ayan Mukerji’s stylish direction have been praised by critics and audiences alike.

Both Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR took to social media to thank fans for the overwhelming support. Hrithik shared that seeing audiences celebrate inside theatres made his heart feel fuller, while Jr NTR called the love from fans simply incredible.

What Lies Ahead

With Sunday still to go and no major release lined up for the coming week, trade experts believe War 2 will see another jump and continue its strong momentum. While it may not break the massive records set by Pathaan or Tiger, it has already established itself as a blockbuster success.
