Ayushmann Khurrana on Joining the Maddock Universe
At the grand trailer launch of Thamma, Ayushmann Khurrana shared his excitement about being part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. He described it as the most sought after franchise in the history of Indian cinema, known for blending supernatural thrills with relatable storytelling. Ayushmann revealed that his role in Thamma is unlike any character he has played before. He plays a common man who suddenly finds himself with supernatural powers but struggles to understand and control them.
The actor added that working with producer Dinesh Vijan has been an inspiring experience. “Sometimes I even wish him on Teacher’s Day because I learn so much from him. With him, you are always in safe hands,” Ayushmann said.
Dinesh Vijan Calls Ayushmann’s Role Career Best
Producer Dinesh Vijan, who has been the driving force behind the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe with films like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, praised Ayushmann’s performance in Thamma. He recalled how Ayushmann’s role in Bala showed his sensitive side, but said Thamma takes it to another level.
According to Vijan, Ayushmann’s role is packed with range and transformation. “At the start of the film, he is a common man like us. By the end, he is a sexy beast. This is his career best performance and audiences are going to see a completely new dimension of Ayushmann Khurrana,” he said with confidence.
Rashmika Mandanna Sends Her Wishes
Although Rashmika Mandanna, who stars opposite Ayushmann in Thamma, could not attend the launch as she was busy shooting for Cocktail 2 in Italy, she sent a heartfelt video message. She apologized for her absence and wished the entire team luck for the film’s Diwali release.
A Diwali Blockbuster in the Making
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for Munjya, and written by Niren Bhatt, Thamma also features Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in important roles. With its blend of supernatural mystery, comedy, and emotional depth, the film aims to set new benchmarks in India’s evolving cinematic universe.
Audiences can expect a Diwali filled with scares, laughs, and unforgettable entertainment as Thamma releases in cinemas on October 21.
