Rajinikanth is back and this time, he is going full throttle. The much-awaited trailer of Coolie has finally dropped and it is every bit as electrifying as fans hoped. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and backed by Sun Pictures, the high-voltage thriller is set to release in theatres on August 14, clashing directly with the mega action spectacle War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. A battle of blockbusters is officially on.

The three-minute trailer unleashes Deva, played by Rajinikanth, a legendary gold smuggler who resurfaces from the shadows with nothing to lose and everything to reclaim. Set against a dark and dangerous underworld, the trailer teases stolen technology, golden vintage watches, and an adrenaline rush that never lets up. It blends style, speed, and swagger in the way only a Rajinikanth film can.

Adding to the scale of Coolie is its mammoth cast. Apart from Rajinikanth, the film features Telugu superstar Nagarjuna, Kannada icon Upendra, Malayalam star Soubin Shahir, and a special cameo by Bollywood’s Aamir Khan. The cast also includes Sathyaraj and Shruti Haasan, making this truly a pan-India ensemble packed with cinematic firepower.

The film’s music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, is already a viral sensation. Tracks like Chikitu and Monica have clocked over 21 million and 48 million views respectively, and are giving fans plenty to groove to ahead of the release. Anirudh’s reunion with Rajinikanth post-Jailer has clearly struck gold again.

Coolie has been certified A by the CBFC, marking Lokesh Kanagaraj’s boldest outing yet. Known for Vikram and Leo, the director is now venturing into grittier territory with what seems to be his most intense action drama to date. The film’s trailer launch was held with grand fanfare at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, attended by the full cast including Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan.

While the plot details are being tightly guarded, what’s clear is that Coolie is built to thrill. From its scale to its story, from its star power to its soundtrack, this film is not just a mass entertainer, it’s a cinematic event.

With Coolie and War 2 set to battle it out this Independence Day weekend, fans can expect box office fireworks like never before.
