From Fresh Faces to Big Stars
During an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Akshay Oberoi opened up about the significant changes in how OTT platforms operate. Initially, these platforms were a space for new talent to flourish without the influence of big movie stars. "When it first started, the stars did not want to do OTT stuff, so the casting that happened before, we all had the benefit of it. So many of us had a chance in the initial years to make a name for ourselves because the casting was organic," Oberoi explained.
Changing Dynamics in Digital Entertainment
However, as OTT platforms grew, they began to mirror traditional movie production, seeking bigger stars to lead projects. Oberoi noted this shift, saying, "Of course, it has changed now because the OTT platforms have become much like the local producers, who also want bigger stars for their projects." This evolution marks a transition from the early days of digital content, which were more about discovering new talent and unique stories.
