In a recent interview with social media influencer Kusha Kapila, Millie Bobby Brown shared insights into her multifaceted role in the creation of her latest Netflix film, "Damsel". The actress, who stars as Elodie and serves as the executive producer, revealed her extensive involvement behind the camera, including decision-making on stunts and location choices.
Kusha Kapila, in an Instagram post, highlighted the dynamic duo's interaction, introducing Millie to the popular Indian slang phrase "Moye moye", which translates to "disappointment". The exchange provided a glimpse into the playful rapport between the two.
"Damsel" follows Elodie, portrayed by Millie, who agrees to marry the prince of Aurea in a bid to save her kingdom from starvation. However, she soon discovers a sinister motive behind the royal family's intentions, as she becomes marked as a sacrifice for a fire-breathing dragon. Trapped in a labyrinthine cave, Elodie must rely on her intellect to survive.
Millie's dual role as lead actress and executive producer proved instrumental in the film's production, allowing her to grasp the logistical aspects, from scheduling to stunt coordination and location scouting.
Contrary to expectations, Millie revealed that the line "This princess does not need a knight in shining armour" wasn't the primary draw for her to take on the role. Instead, she emphasized the importance of showcasing a female protagonist navigating challenges independently.
During the interview, Millie also shared her knowledge of the iconic American slang "Okurrr", learned from watching "Keeping Up With the Kardashians", illustrating the cultural exchange between the two.
Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and penned by Dan Mazeau, "Damsel" offers a modern twist on a classic narrative, resonating with audiences through its fresh perspective. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, and Nick Robinson.
