Netflix India’s Big Moment On The Global Stage

Netflix India continues to make waves internationally, this time with an impressive nine National Wins at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2025. These nominations span across categories that celebrate standout performances, compelling documentaries, and high-quality technical achievements. With titles like Black Warrant, The Greatest Rivalry: India vs Pakistan, Modern Masters – SS Rajamouli, and IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Netflix has reinforced its position as a powerhouse of storytelling that resonates not just in India but across the globe.

Black Warrant Leads The Pack

The biggest highlight of this year’s nominations is Black Warrant, which emerged as the frontrunner with recognition in multiple categories. Actor Zahan Kapoor, who essayed the role of Sunil Gupta, received a Best Actor nomination, calling it a surreal moment in his career. The series has also earned nods for Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Cinematography, and Best Screenplay. Sameer Nair of Applause Entertainment praised the recognition, stating that it showcases the strength of Indian creators on an international platform.

Celebrating Indian Stories And Talent

Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, expressed pride in the diversity of stories being recognised, highlighting that the awards are a testament to the creativity of both established and emerging talent. She emphasised that these nominations reflect the combined efforts of creators, technicians, and behind-the-scenes professionals who have worked tirelessly to deliver stories that speak to audiences worldwide.

The Greatest Rivalry And Other Nominations

The Greatest Rivalry: India vs Pakistan, directed by Chandradev Bhagat, has also garnered attention with its nomination for Best Documentary Series. The project, which explored cricket’s most iconic rivalry, was described by its creators as a celebration of the players, fans, and the spirit of the game. Alongside this, titles such as Modern Masters – SS Rajamouli and IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack will also be representing India, further solidifying Netflix’s ability to bring both contemporary and historical narratives to the forefront.

A Continuation Of Global Success

This recognition builds on Netflix India’s strong showing in 2024, where acclaimed projects like Amar Singh Chamkila, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, The Railway Men, and The Hunt For Veerappan were nominated at the same awards. The consistent presence of Indian titles at the AACA underlines the country’s growing influence in global entertainment and the streaming giant’s role in amplifying it.

Looking Ahead To The Gala Finals

The Gala Finals of the Asian Academy Creative Awards will be held in Singapore this December, where the winners will be announced. With Black Warrant and other projects carrying India’s hopes, the anticipation is high for yet another proud moment for the country’s entertainment industry.
