The Shelbys Are Back

The iconic crime drama Peaky Blinders is making a powerful comeback. The BBC has confirmed that two brand new series are in the works, both set to continue the gripping saga of the Shelby family in post-war Birmingham. The story will introduce audiences to a new generation of Shelbys while staying rooted in the show’s signature world of power struggles, violence, and family loyalty.

A New Era of Storytelling

Created by Steven Knight, this new chapter will take place in 1953, a time when Birmingham was rising from the ashes of the blitz. The backdrop of reconstruction will bring fresh conflicts as powerful groups race to control lucrative rebuilding projects. At the center of it all, the Shelbys will once again navigate ambition, betrayal, and survival. Knight promised that the story will be “a hell of a ride,” signaling intense drama and a bold continuation of the legacy.

BBC and Netflix Partnership

The upcoming series will be produced by Kudos and Garrison Drama, both of whom have been key in shaping the Peaky Blinders universe. Each series will feature six 60-minute episodes, airing on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK and streaming worldwide on Netflix. Filming is scheduled at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, further rooting the drama in its original setting.

Fan-Favorite Legacy Continues

Peaky Blinders has remained one of the BBC’s most loved dramas since its debut 12 years ago. Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, emphasized how the show changed the television landscape and expressed excitement for this new installment. For fans, the promise of familiar Shelby grit mixed with a new generation of characters opens the door for a fresh yet nostalgic experience.

What To Expect

The revival is supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority and marks a major investment in regional production. With themes of power, crime, and survival colliding with the post-war rebuilding of Birmingham, the two new series are expected to deliver the same cinematic quality, iconic writing, and unforgettable characters that made the show a global phenomenon.

The Shelby name continues to reign, and with the next generation stepping up, the Peaky Blinders legacy is far from over.
