Sharmin Segal, niece of renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has been under fire for her role in the web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Playing the character Alamzeb in Bhansali's debut OTT show on Netflix, Segal has faced significant trolling from viewers since its release.
Sharmin Segal's Response to Trolling
In a recent interview with News18, Sharmin opened up about the backlash. She emphasized the importance of acknowledging audience feedback, whether positive or negative. "They have a right to their opinion – positive or negative. That’s one thing that gives me perspective and allows me to be okay," she said.
Positive Feedback Amidst Negativity
Sharmin pointed out that not all responses were negative. She believes that while the internet tends to highlight negative comments, there were many positive reactions as well. "I had given my all to Alamzeb’s character. We tend to fixate on the negatives but there are so many positives that have also come along, which we don’t talk about," she shared.
Learning from Feedback
Sharmin, who debuted in the 2019 film Malaal, initially avoided discussions about her performance. However, she later decided to read everything, realizing she was missing out on positive feedback. "I’ve now started paying attention to that. Over the last few days, I decided to look through it all. The audience’s opinion is what will probably help you be the best version of yourself," she concluded.
