It all builds up to this one moment. It's so real, but it’s also so special."
Timeless Elegance in a Saree
For this year's gala, Alia chose to wear a saree designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, reflecting the event's theme, "The Garden of Time." She explained her choice by highlighting the saree's timeless appeal, stating, "There is nothing more timeless than a saree." The saree featured intricate hand embroidery, crafted by 163 artisans over 1900 hours, showcasing a labour of love and dedication.
Bringing Cultural Heritage to the Global Stage
Alia expressed her pride in bringing a piece of her cultural heritage to the global fashion stage. She said, "I'm so excited to bring all of that out to the world for everybody to see because it has taken a lot of love, labour, and effort. And anything that’s gotten love and time lasts forever, like the garden." Her choice aimed to blend traditional Indian attire with the international glamour of the Met Gala.
